Shelter in Place
Working on a Shelter in Place project:
Using a type case – a compartmentalized wooden box used to store movable type used in letterpress printing – I paint a pattern across the small rooms.
The many compartments represent how we all shelter in each our own ‘room’ isolated from each other. The painted pattern represents how we all are still connected. Although unseen, we still create patterns together, and we still create community together.
It is important that we keep this in mind as we go about our shelter-in-place life. Even though we keep our social distance, 6 feet apart, we are interconnected and we form a community.
This is a good time to realize our potential for a better tomorrow.
