Play the Fool

Play the Fool

I’m working on a LARGE painting (80cm x 180cm) = (31,5″ x 70,8″) called PLAY THE FOOL.

I still need to add more color and put in the faces of the figures. My six grandchildren have been models for the characters. I work from photos. I start with acrylic but quickly move on to oil, my favorite medium. I add mixed media, too, like handmade papers and torn prints of my own.

When I look at my work, it’s about characters from literature, theater, carnival, circus, ballet, and so on. I like to tell stories and that I do on canvas. But of course, the story varies according to the reader (onlooker). Just like when a story is read from a book.

I recently listened to a TED talk by Ethan Hawke about the role of CREATIVITY.

Here it is: https://www.ted.com/talks/ethan_hawke_give_yourself_permission_to_be_creative?language=en
